Do I need a referral?
Yes, you require a current referral from your GP or specialist.
Do I have to pay?
Yes, but in special circumstances or for pensioners concessions apply.
How do I claim?
Medicare rebates can be claimed if you have a valid medicare card. If you have registered your bank account details with Medicare, our staff may be able to process this on your behalf.
How can payment be made?
EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard.
Do I need to fast etc?
No, but for different type of scans we will provide specific instructions. Click here to see preparation section.
Do you have 3 or 4D? What is the difference?
We provide both. Both 3D and 4D images will show the actual image of the baby. 3D is a still image of the baby and 4D incorporates a time dimension so is like a video where you see the baby’s actual movements.
Do I have to pick up report?
No – they are sent out to referring doctor by either fax, post or electronic reporting.
Can I request a Sonographer?
Yes, you may.
How long will I be there? Do you run on time?
Most appointments are around 30 minutes but this does depend on the type of appointment. Generally, we run to time unless there is a delay due to a complicated case.

Office hours 9am – 5pm. Contact Us.
Do I get photos?
Yes, photos are provided for no extra cost and sent electronically to you.
How many visitors can I take into the scanning room?
One other person may observe the scan with you. We do not allow children in the scanning room and request that unless you have someone who can supervise them in the waiting room, that they do not attend the practice.
** Ultrasound for Women may restrict visitors in accordance with current Department of Health guidelines.
Parking Fees?
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health – $10.10 for first hour and $13.50 for two hours.
Windsor/Hawkesbury – free parking.
Parramatta – There are 3 options:
– Westfield – Free for the 1st 3 hours, 4 if you download the Westfield plus app.
– Street Parking – $4 per hour
– Justice Precinct Parking – $3 per hour.
What if I am running late for my appointment?
Please notify staff if you are running late as soon as possible. If you are 15 mins late we will need to rebook you.
COVID-19 Preventive Measures
Ultrasound for Women will follow NSW Health Department guidelines to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
From time to time, to ensure your safety and the safety of our team, our staff may ask you to meet additional requirements and precautions on top of those already disclosed on our website.
- If you are feeling unwell, have a fever or flu like symptoms, or had close contact with a known COVID-19 case within the last 14 days, please contact us and reschedule your appointment.
- Patients and their support person must use the hand sanitizer available in our reception on arrival and prior to leaving.
- At this time, no children are allowed in our practices. If you bring children to your appointment, you will be asked to rebook.
- Only 1 support person is permitted at your appointment.
** Ultrasound for Women may restrict support persons in accordance with current Department of Health guidelines.
Ultrasound for Women are taking additional preventative measures during this time to minimise the risk of transmission:
- Our staff will wear a mask in the scanning rooms.
- Patients and their support person must wear a mask in the practice.
- Support person must sign in using the Covid Safe QR code at reception.
- Surface areas in our treatment rooms are cleaned between each patient.
- Increased frequency of cleaning high risk surfaces, such as reception counters and EFTPOS machines.
- Waiting rooms have been modified to allow a safe distance between visitors.
You will be notified by our staff prior to your appointment of any requirements that may be required for you to attend your appointment.
