Ultrasound for Women uses the latest in 3D and 4D ultrasound during pregnancy and gynaecological examinations. The best method for the medical examination of the fetus is still 2D ultrasound. 3D ultrasound images can be useful to diagnose problems like cleft lip and limb abnormalities. 4D imaging is 3D scanning in real-time and allows the fetal behavior and movement to be observed. 3D/4D ultrasound is used in addition to but does not replace conventional 2D ultrasound.
Please note: As a medical practice we do not take bookings for ‘entertainment only’ 3D scans.
ULTRASOUND IMAGES
All of the sonographers at Ultrasound for Women are trained in the use of 3D / 4D ultrasound. While the focus of the examination will be the assessment of the baby, the sonographer will be happy to provide an image of the baby if possible at the end of the examination. The quality of the image will depend on the position of the baby, the stage of the pregnancy, the position of the uterus, the amount of amniotic fluid near the baby’s face and the size of the mother. Unfortunately we cannot always obtain images in all babies for these reasons.
